De Gea: "I felt like Captain America"

David de Gea, one of Manchester United's star players this season, has said that the transformation he went through from his gym work when he first joined the Red Devils, three seasons ago, made him "feel like Captain America".
The shot-stopper, aged 24, arrived to Old Trafford in 2011 and ever since he's been putting in some gym time to gain muscle, which has paid serious dividends. "I was like Captain America in one year! I still do the programme, although not as much as before. It is more of a reduced programme now but certainly I did a lot of gym work at the start and it did have a big impact", De Gea told the Manchester United Website. "I have been here for four years now and I think that every aspect of my goalkeeping has improved. It is hard to single out one area because we have worked and improved on everything", he added.
De Gea, who Manchester United paid €22.7 million for, was heavily criticised when he first moved to the United Kingdom. However, the Spaniard is now an assured performer, and has won a league title and two Community Shields with the Red Devils. "No matter how excellent your form is, you can always get better and there are always aspects of your game that you can improve. You can improve everything. No matter how well people think you are playing, or how well you think you are playing yourself, it is always a case of working on every facet of your game. There is hopefully more to come", he concluded.
