Drivers are facing treacherous conditions on icy roads, as temperatures look set to fall below freezing in most parts of the UK.
The Met Office issued further snow and ice warnings, as forecasters warned ice would be the main hazard later.
Widespread icy patches will form on untreated surfaces, especially where snow has fallen, the Met Office said, warning drivers to take extra care.
Meanwhile, hundreds of homes remain without power in parts of England.
The Met Office has issued yellow warnings - meaning "be aware" - for ice across the UK, and snow in eastern England from Lincolnshire northwards.
