Everything is coming up roses for Toni Kroos. He is happy, at the top of his game and enjoying every moment out on the pitch.
MARCA had a chance to chat to him after he picked up his award, recognising him as one of the best midfielders in the world.
"I am very happy about this award, but it's not the most important thing for me. The most important thing is the team and I'm grateful to all my teammates for their efforts. Kroos cannot play alone, Cristiano Ronaldo cannot play alone... The team is the most important thing and that's what counts", he replied when asked how he felt about the accolade.
"I can still improve and bring even more. I think I've had a good few months, but I've just turned 25, this is not the end. You can always improve and I can improve by working hard. And the team improve too, that's what we're working towards", the Real Madrid midfielder added.
With another derby imminent in which Real Madrid is looking at an uphill struggle to qualify, he said: "We're going to try to turn things around, of course. It's not going to be easy because Atlético is a great team and the result makes it tough. A 3-1, for example, would mean we were out, but we'll try".
"I love playing at the Bernabéu. The Real Madrid fans have been really great to me and I'm grateful", he concluded.
