Neymar bags Samba Gold

Neymar has won his first ever Samba Gold, the annual award that goes to the player selected as the best Brazilian player in Europe.
The new captain of the Brazil's national team left his competitors for dust, securing 29.2% of the votes. He succeeds PSG defender Thiago Silva, the winner of the accolade for the past three years running.
Neymar has scored 11 goals in the 13 competitive games he has played for Barça this season. Close to 180,000 online votes were cast to decide who would be honoured this year, marking a record for the Samba Gold awards. Neymar will be presented with the trophy in Barcelona in February.
Neymar's performance as an 'Azulgrana' is going from strength to strength. After an initial year of adjustment, the Brazilian is on stunning form for his second season with Barça, a factor which has clearly been recognised in his selection as winner by the two judging panels of 11 journalists and 11 former Brazilian players.
He received 41.41% of the votes from the journalists, ahead of Miranda and Willian, with 39.39% of the players' panel opting for Neymar, again pipping Willian and Miranda to the post, although this time with the Chelsea and Atlético players swapping positions for second and third.
