James is doing better than even he could have dreamed of in his first season at Real Madrid.
The Colombian player, with his goal scored against Almería at the Bernabéu, has now notched up 16 goals in all the competitions he has played in, despite having been out injured for two months with a broken bone in his right foot, which had to be operated on in February.
This is a personal best for the 'Los Blancos' nº10, who ever since his second season with Porto has managed an average of ten goals a season. Before this year, his record was 14 goals (scored in the league, cup and Champions League games) while at Porto in 2012. Last year at Monaco, he claimed ten strikes.
Despite being played further back than usual on the pitch, James has settled into his new club remarkably well, showing all that he is as effective at millimetre-precision passes and helping out his teammates as he is at scoring. The Real newbie has had no problems adapting to Ancelotti's demands that the midfielders track back to defend when they haven't got the ball. His 'can-do' mentality has helped put his team second in La Liga and into the Champions League semi-finals. Apart from the 16 goals, James has also provided 12 assists (9 in la Liga, 2 in the Champions League and 1 in the cup), making him a key figure in Ancelotti's attacking force.
James is doing better Future world best...
