The children for whom illegally crossing borders is the only way of life they know: From Calais to the Mediterranean, families continue to risk the lives of their young for a new life in Europe

Migrant families are risking the lives of their children in a desperate attempt to make it across the Mediterranean in search of a better life in Europe.
Leaving behind everything they have ever known, the youngsters accompany their parents as they flee the brutal conflict and instability in Syria, Eritrea, Somalia and Afghanistan.
It's a perilous journey few would make by choice but as these harrowing pictures show, families are risking it all in search of a place they can bring up their children without risk of persecution.

In Calais, those dreaming of a new start are met with towering fences, barbed wire and armed guards. But that doesn't appear to stop hundreds of men, women and children clambering over fences and boarding trains in an attempt to reach the UK.
The risings tensions saw violence erupt in the French port last night after a weekend where around 2,500 migrants stormed the Channel Tunnel, including an organised gang of 200 filmed chanting 'open the borders' and demanding to be allowed to walk to Britain.
